Rental showers rarely come with enough shelving, and suction caddies always slide off the tile eventually. A tension-pole caddy wedges between floor and ceiling (or just spans the corner) using pressure alone, so there's zero adhesive, zero holes, and zero residue when it's time to go.

What You'll Need

  • Tension pole shower caddy with adjustable shelves (~$28)
  • Rubber grip pads or felt furniture pads for the base and top contact points (~$5)
  • Microfiber cloth for wiping tile before install (~$3)
  • Small measuring tape to confirm ceiling height clearance (already on hand)

How to Do It

  1. Measure the corner or wall span where you want the caddy, checking ceiling height so the pole has room to tension properly.
  2. Clean the tile and ceiling contact points so the pads grip evenly and don't slip.
  3. Attach rubber grip pads to the top and bottom of the pole to protect surfaces and prevent marking — this leaves no residue when removed.
  4. Extend the pole and twist to lock it firmly between floor and ceiling, testing sturdiness before loading it up.
  5. Slide shelves to your preferred heights and load with bottles, loofahs, and razors.
  6. Uninstall anytime by simply loosening the pole and lifting it out — no marks, no landlord conversation needed.
