The MrBeast Malibu House Was Listed at $68.8M. Now It's $42M. Reddit Has Thoughts About the Dog and the Horse.

Reddit asked: "A 5 bedroom house or an insane art museum?" The top comment was: "Clear case of someone who just has too much money." The second comment was about the dog and the horse in the listing photos, and the commenter's certainty that greeting them both every morning before doing anything else would be a non-negotiable daily requirement. The Infinity at 41800 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu is listed at $42,000,000. It was previously listed at $68.8 million. It was featured in MrBeast's "$1 vs $100,000,000 House!" video, which received nearly 200 million views. The dog and the horse are real.

What Ed Niles Built

Designed by Edward R. Niles and completed in 2010 for Wei-Tzuoh and Carrie Chen, The Infinity is built around the number 8 — both a Chinese lucky number and the infinity symbol — which is woven throughout the property's design from its eight separate structures unified as one to sculptures and furnishings throughout. The nearly 9,000-square-foot steel-and-concrete structure sits directly on the sand with the Pacific Ocean as its front yard. The design philosophy fuses Japanese shoji translucency with Feng Shui principles: walls of glass dissolve the boundary between interior and ocean, the lucky color red appears strategically throughout, and the curved-glass primary suite is suspended above the water. Natural ventilation systems draw ocean breezes through the home. Gascoigne Blue limestone floors, Bulthaup cabinetry, and Dornbracht fixtures establish the material register. A Harrison Reef tide pool, a stainless steel Japanese soaking tub, and a fire pit complete the oceanfront experience. Gallery-scale interiors were designed for museum-quality art collections. The listing calls it "arguably his best endeavor." Niles has been designing iconic structures since 1979. That is a meaningful claim.

The Price History — and the Responsibility

The property first listed at $68.8 million, appeared in Robb Report and on MrBeast's channel with nearly 200 million views, went to auction via Concierge Auctions in 2024, and has now returned to the market at $42,000,000 — a reduction of nearly $27 million. The Reddit commenter who identified this as a clear case of too much money is not wrong. The commenter who identified the dog and the horse as the property's true anchors — and who acknowledged that the daily greeting ritual would be both a necessity and "too much responsibility" — is also not wrong. At $42 million for a steel-and-glass Feng Shui masterpiece on the Malibu sand with a tide pool and a music room, the property is offering something specific: a life organized around architecture, ocean, and the number 8. The dog and horse appear to be included in that vision. Whether they convey with the sale has not been confirmed.
