An 1885 Queen Anne in Little Rock With a Dark Past

The A.D. Beach House is a stately three-story Victorian on a corner lot in downtown Little Rock, offered for the first time since 1999. It's a genuinely beautiful house, and it also carries a heavy chapter in its history that the listing never mentions and Reddit couldn't stop discussing.

A Victorian With Real Character

Built in 1885, the 4,583-square-foot home has 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths, and a dedicated office on a landscaped 0.79-acre corner lot at 19th and Main. The original details are still here: soaring ceilings, oversized pocket doors, transoms, extra-large windows, a grand staircase and foyer, a bay-window tower, and a wraparound porch. The kitchen was updated in 2015, and the third-floor primary suite was updated in the early 2000s. Outside are mature landscaping, ample parking, and a gated, lagoon-style pool.

A Chapter Little Rock Remembers

In November 1987, the house was the scene of a tragedy: a man killed his wife and two young daughters and then took his own life. The case drew wide coverage at the time, and local commenters say it is still well known in Little Rock. The listing doesn't mention it, and some buyers will care while others won't. The house has seen other trouble over the years too, including a fire reported in a 1905 newspaper account that a Reddit user dug up.

The Internet Has Thoughts

Naturally, this listing caught the attention of Reddit's r/zillowgonewild community, where one commenter said there isn't enough sage in the world to get them to sleep there, and another called the listing's "piece of downtown Little Rock history" pitch a bold way to open. People debated whether the history should come with a discount, and several were struck by the price jump: according to a commenter, the house last sold for about $44,000 in 1999. Others noted it sits next door to a post office and wondered what else old newspapers might say about it. See what people are saying about it here.
