These People Followed Instructions A Bit Too Literally

Some people tend to take things a little too literally. We're talking about the type of people where you ask for mayo on the side and they put mayo literally on the side of your sandwich. Or the type of people who do exactly what was asked of them with no thought behind it (putting the sheets on the bed = leaving the sheets in a pile on the bed). Let's hope you're not one of these people!

A Bit Literal

The directions specifically said to show your thinking. If the teacher wanted the student to write out their thoughts, then they should have said that! Obviously, the student took the directions in the literal sense and quite literally showed themselves thinking about Bobby.

A Bit of a Miscommunication

Some Bank of Camera cards have the bank account owner's photo on them for safety purposes. This girl's father switched banks to Wells Fargo and was a bit confused by what they meant when they asked if he wanted a photo or not. At least everyone will know that that is his credit card.

Touché

This is not the answer the teacher was going for but still the right answer. This just goes to show that there isn't always one "right" answer. Bach did not compose jazz, hip-hop, and rock n' roll. If the teacher was looking for the genre of his century, they should have written that!

Is This Your First Day?

The instructions were to put mayo on the top and the bottom of the roll. Yes, the employee did just that. Most people would put the mayo inside of the bun since that's how sandwiches are typically made. Maybe it was their first day, who really knows?

No Dessert? No Problem

Disney cruises take hospitality very seriously. When a server asked this person what they wanted for dessert, the person replied with, "Nothing, thanks." Well, the server wasn't going to take "no" for an answer so they threw together something in the back. Here's your plate of nothing, topped with sprinkles and a dollop of whipped cream.

That's One Way To Pose

This person asked their daughter to lean against the pole for a picture. They didn't say how to lean against the pole, so their daughter decided to put her own spin on the instructions. Honestly, if this isn't teenage angst, then what is?

Close Enough

This parent asked their four-year-old to put the toilet paper under the sink. Well, she did. They are under the sink, as you can tell. The parent obviously meant for the TP to go into the cabinet under the sink, but this type of thing happens. Honestly, it's not a terrible spot for them. Maybe that little kid is onto something?

An Old-Timey Screenshot

Technology is hard! It's especially hard for those who haven't grown up with it. The person who posted this photo said that they had asked their Great Aunt to take a screenshot of something, so she decided to copy it and fax it over. That works.

Choice of Words

"Motivate" is a strange choice of words here. What the teacher was looking for was "justify" or even "explain." They can't be mad that the student quite literally motivated their answer! All they did was follow the prompt.

Guac With Ice, Anyone?

The waitress came up to the table and asked them what they would like to start off with. After everyone had ordered, one person asked if they could also have a glass of ice and some guac. This was the result. No, the person did not order them to be together

Send Pics

This person asked their partner to send photos of her new underwear to him. So, she did. She put her underwear on the dog to help model them... Who else would be able to take the picture? The dog is rocking them, though.

Just Following Directions

The paper says "post no flyers." So, this person posted birds that don't fly. They got together some photos of classic flightless birds (ostrich, emu, penguin) and posted the paper underneath the announcement. The construction management can't remove the sign, this person followed the directions!

Looks like a Gerald

Or, maybe George. This Facebook user definitely got what they asked for. If they wanted the name "of" the plant, then that would be a different story. We might not know the species of this plant, but we do know its name now.

Classic Mom Brain

This mom took the car insurance agent's directions a bit too seriously. If it felt weird, maybe she should have rethought what she was doing! Luckily, Eva seems like a nice lady and helped this mom out. She even paid her a compliment!

Be As Realistic As Possible

This high school student took their teacher's directions to heart with their project. The assignment was to pick a historical figure and write out a diary entry from their point of view. The explicit instructions: be as realistic as possible. Let's hope they can read Chinese!

Mini Beer

While visiting Berlin, Germany, this tourist asked for a "small beer" with their meal. Apparently, the server was prepared for this and gave him the tiniest, cutest glass of beer in the store. I wouldn't be too mad at this, it's so cute!

Tour of Europe, You Say?

When you live in Ohio, you also live near Versailles, London, Dublin, Cambridge, Berlin, New London, Milan, and Genoa. Who says you need to travel out of the country to see the world? Props to this guy for actually putting in the work to give his lady a little tour. It's only 11 hours, too!

Don't Forget the Frozen Fruit

This man only had one request for his wife's next grocery store trip: frozen fruit. So, what did she come back with? Frozen fruit. Is that not what he asked for? (Don't worry, he did get his actual frozen fruit.)

A Law Abiding Citizen

Construction zones can get pretty tricky. This girl got a little foncused on her walk to school with his makeshift traffic light. At least we know that she's a good egg! Maybe a little too good...

What's It Going To Do?

If this man stops watching the step, what will it do? Commit a crime? Runaway? This man is really putting his life out on the line for us while watching this step. Let's hope he got some thank-yous!

No, Sour Cream and Onion Chips

Grandma isn't always up to date on the new types of chips, alright? This guy asked his grandmother to get him some sour cream and onion chips from the store. So, she got the sour cream, and she got the onion chips (Funyuns, of course). What else did they think she would do?

Don't Even Hesitate

Every person working in the service industry wants to do stuff like this... This Wendy's employee actually did it. Whenever you say, "uhhh," just remember what happened to Zack.

Set For Life

Taco Bell is really generous. This person asked for as many sauces as the Taco Bell employee could give them. Well, they got two entire bags full of delicious Taco Bell sauces. They're basically set for life.

Witty Wife

This person's wife (gray text) is from Venezuela. He was poking fun at her via text message when she decided to get him back. That's what he meant, right? Where else would the "h" go? America is weird.

Selfie Time

It's a very nice photo, but this person was interested in a photo of the car that they're in the market for, not the seller. To be fair, the buyer didn't specify what kind of picture he wanted. This guy was only doing what he was asked!

Getting Too Literal

Sandi was asked which affiliation she prefers to go by. She said, "Probably University of Central Lancashire." For some reason, the person making the name tag thought that the word "probably" was a part of the university name!

That Was Easy

Wow, no one said how simple this essay test would be! Really, though, this teacher was cruising for a bruising with this sentence. There wasn't even a prompt attached to this demand! I hope the student kept it.

Almost Had It

They were so close to getting it right. They had the Kellogg's logo, which is all that they needed! Unfortunately, someone messed up and wrote the rest of the sentence on the spoon as well. Maybe this mistake is good marketing, who knows?

A Golden Retriever

Her favorite dog is a golden retriever. She's been asking for one for months. On her birthday, her boyfriend decided to get her a golden retriever. And by that, he literally got her one of those claw things that elderly people use and spray painted it gold. This hurts.

It's Good Enough

She asked for one picture, so her brother delivered. He took one photo and gave the phone back to her. Obviously, this isn't exactly what she wanted. She should specify that she wanted one good picture. No photobombers allowed!

He Did It

When Dave says the sign needs to be changed, the sign will be changed. What did it say before? Who knows, and who cares? Dave asked for the sign to change, so his loyal employee did so. That's all anyone needs to know.

Don't Be Afraid

This employee's manager yelled at them for not using enough wet floor signs while mopping. So, the employee took every single one they had in the store and made sure to put them all out at the same time. No one will be slipping on this employee's watch!

That's a Bit Excessive

He asked the Hardee's employee to bit some extra icing on his cinnamon roll. This was absolutely not what he was expecting, but it's possible it is what he asked for. Even if it was by accident, no one would ever want this.

Touche

In order to separate himself from the flock, Bryan wanted to make sure that his coffee was properly addressed to him. Apparently, the barista wasn't so keen on spelling his name correctly so he went the extra mile. "Brian with a y, your coffee is ready."

Technically, He Did

There are two ways to eat half of someone's grapes. One way is to count them all up and then split them evenly. Another way is to physically bite into every single one of them. This kid is either a genius or a psychopath.

Birthday Pranks

A child asked for a Nintendo 3DS for his birthday. So, his dad, being a dad, made him a 3-D letter "S". Let's just hope that this kid got a real 3DS after he opened the prank gift.

Word Count

The teacher made a word count mandatory for this assignment. This student wanted to make sure that his teacher knew that he followed the word count to a T. Instead of just putting the word count at the end of the assignment, like a normal person, the student made this monstrosity.

Husband Duties

She asked him to put the cases on the pillows, so he did. He put the cases directly onto the pillows. Tragically, this man suffers from husband syndrome where he only performs normal tasks at the most minimal level.

Not What I Asked For

A client at a gym asked management to put up a door to the locker room. Obviously, that's not a terrible request since locker rooms should be a bit private. So, they put up a door. A glass door. Which literally does nothing for privacy.

Not Very Artistic

This is what happens when you make the least artistic employee make the sign! To be fair, the little sign that they drew is pretty good. Maybe with some more practice, they could actually make the sign.

Too Many Instructions

In all fairness to this Wendy's employee, the request from this customer was really weird. They asked for a small Frosty but in a medium cup. So, that's exactly what they got! If they wanted the contents of the Frosty in the cup, then they can do it themselves.

Well, It's On There

This mother asked her three-year-old to put the toilet paper on the holder. Technically, she did. Did she do it right? No. But at least she tried! Plus, it takes skill, strength, and determination to get the toilet paper on the holder like that.

Bring a Potato Dish, They Said

Sometimes, family parties sneak up on you. All of the sudden, it's two hours before you're supposed to be there and you have nothing. You were supposed to bring the potato dish! Well, luckily, there's a McDonald's on the way. The day is saved.

Weighing the Ingredients

A mother/daughter duo was baking together. The mother asked her daughter to weigh the ingredients out. She did just that. That's a pretty impressive balancing act.

Laziness or Ignorance?

Some people may not realize how printers work. In order for the printer to access the paper, the paper casing off the stack needs to be taken off. When an employee was asked to refill the printer tray and the printer still wasn't working, they opened up the tray to see what was wrong. Mystery solved.

Cheese Fries with Extra Cheese

This person had asked for cheese fries with a side of extra cheese. Instead of getting the normal cheese wiz, they got a singular slice of cheese. Maybe that had forgotten that the customer ordered cheese fries and not a burger? The world may never know.

Husband-Syndrome Strikes Again

The woman who posted this photo said that she had asked her husband to make sure that the kitchen counters were clean. When she went into the kitchen later that evening, she saw this. That's true, they were clean. But he also just pushed everything that was once on the kitchen counters into the sink.

Splitting It For Three

They had asked for the sandwich to be cut into three pieces. It looks like the person who made the sandwich may not have seen the initial request until it was too late and had to cut it in a weird way, leaving the customer with very uneven pieces. It's still pretty hilarious, though.

Do You Hate Trees?

The person who posted this said that they had asked their insurance to send them a list of approved psychiatrists within a 20-mile radius of their home. The email never came. A few days later, this arrived at their door. Such a waste.

Horrifying Egg Sandwich

An egg and cheese bagel is very simple: bagel, fried egg, with a slice of cheese. Apparently, this guy had never made one before and literally just gave a customer a gross hardboiled egg with cream cheese on a bagel. Calling 911 is definitely the right step, this is a crime.

Now What?

Teachers must have their hands full with all of these kids taking the directions too literally. This was obviously someone joking around (hopefully) but they never actually did finish the question...

Put It In Rice

The age-old solution to waterlogged electronics? Put it in rice! Sadly, this guy didn't quite get the memo. He got his camera wet, and a friend told him to put the camera in a bag with rice. Technically, he did. Luckily, he sent a picture to make sure he did it right... he did not.

Haircut Disaster

The directions were simple: a high fade evened out at the top. What in the world even is this? A fade means varying lengths of hair. This barber gave the poor guy a buzzcut and left some behind. What a travesty.

She Underestimated Him

This guy's wife asked him to put all of the toilet paper in the basket. Apparently, she didn't know how much toilet paper they really had. He got creative, though.

Need Glasses?

This is how you know a boss doesn't know how to run his company: he had asked his IT employee to send him all of the user permissions in the backlogs of the website. So, that's what the IT employee did despite telling him that's not really possible. Is this what he wanted? Probably not, but it's what he asked for.

Not Quite, But It Works

They asked the cake designer to put "a big 50" on the cake. Instead, the cake designer wrote "Big 50." It's fine, since a lot of people like to say, "the big five-oh" when referring to their friends turning fifty, but it's definitely not what they had asked for!

Cover Up

This is the absolute bane of every new mother's existence. She was asked to cover up at a restaurant. The restaurant didn't clarify what she had to cover up though, so she chose the option that made the most sense. Why would you put a blanket over a baby's head? That seems a bit cruel.

Kidney Birthday Celebration?

Kidney transplants are no joke! This woman wanted to surprise her friend with a funny cake celebrating the anniversary of the kidney transplant. She said that she wanted, "Happy Kidsey Birthday. 5 years!" anywhere on the cake. Obviously, the cake decorator got a little hung up on the wording.

Fire Alarm Mayhem

According to this person who posted this photo, their boss doesn't like to take out the old fire alarms. When one goes bad, they just put a new one in. "It puts holes in the walls," was the boss's justification. Yeah, well now you have eight fire alarms and only one that works!

Chocolate Chip Muffin

Oh, you wanted multiple chips? Sorry, you ordered the "chocolate chip" muffin not the "chocolate chips" muffin. You have to specify if you one just one singular chocolate chip or multiple!

This Is the Side Salad

When this person ordered the side salad, they requested just the egg and cheese only. To the cook, that meant no greens either. So, this person just got hardboiled eggs and cheese. Good enough.

Classic Doctors

This woman gets her migraine medicine in blister packs. She asked her doctor if she could get it in just a bottle instead. This is what she got. Even though it's not what she asked for, she can at least take apart the blister packs and put the pills in the bottle.

This Isn't An Egg Roll

An egg roll is not a hardboiled egg in a roll. The "egg" part is literally describing the flaky outside of a typical egg roll. This must have been totally horrifying to bite into.

Swing and a Miss

Someone accidentally printed the expiration date on the pastry. Honestly, it's unclear how this happened. Just eat around it, you'll survive!

Peppers On the Side

This person asked for peppers on the side instead of inside their hoagie. Most restaurants pack any ingredients on the side in a tiny little container. The person who made this sandwich took it way too literally. I bet that bun tasted like peppers.
