These Famous Costars Absolutely Hated Each Other

Celebrities are pretty good at hiding their feuds with one another... For the most part! There are so many costars who despise each other, and it's very possible that you had no idea!

Mariah Carey and Nikki Minaj

American Idol was never not involved in drama. What were they thinking when they brought on two iconic diva's as judges? It only took them a few weeks to start threatening each other.

Apparently, Carey felt that Minaj had no right to be on the show because she had "no talent." That does sound like a Mariah Carey thing to say...

Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano

These two butted heads so much that Shannen Doherty was ultimately written off of Charmed. They played two witchy sisters, and Doherty's character's death was quite the shock. Rose McGowan saved the day and replaced the missing character.

Milano hasn't said much about the situation, but she did say that she felt like she was in high school with Doherty on set. "Too much drama onset and not enough passion for the work."

Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte

These two hated each other so much that they could barely film I Love Trouble together. Oftentimes, the actors used body doubles in scenes where it didn't matter if their face was showing or not. In fact, they barely spent any time together on set due to how much they despised one another.

Roberts and Nolte both went their separate ways after filming wrapped, but that didn't mean their feud was done and over with. In fact, Roberts prodded the fire by saying that Nolte could be "charming and nice, he's also completely disgusting." Nolte ended up saying that no nice person would call another disgusting, "but she's not a nice person. Everyone knows that."

George Clooney verses Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio

This three-way feud is rough. Things started up when Crowe accused Clooney of being a sellout. When Clooney was asked about that comment, he said, "The truth is that he did send me a book of poems to apologize for insulting the s*** out of me, which he did." Then he called Crowe a Frank Sinatra Wannabe.

Clooney wasn't done yet, though. He went on to insult Leonardo DiCaprio and his basketball skills during an interview... Completely unprompted, by the way. It was a super weird interview.

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams played out one of the most romantic stories of all time, so it's hard to imagine that these two did not like each other. Believe it or not, there was a time where they didn't get along!

Gosling even asked for a new actor to help do off-camera lines with because he just didn't "feel" anything for McAdams. The director put them in a room together, told them to work it out, and, well, the rest is history.

Dakota Johnson  and Jamie Dornan

Funny enough, the entire 50 Shades of Gray franchise is riddled with feuds. For starters, there was apparently no in-person chemistry between Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan. This ended up making things difficult between the two, but they are friendly regardless.

In terms of these two verses the director Sam Taylor-Johnson and author E.L. James, things got way more heated. The two got into screaming matches which lead to near-brawls. With all of this bad energy rolling around, Johnson ended up leaving the film franchise. She was once asked if she would co-direct the movie all over again, and she said, "Of course I wouldn't. I was so confused by E.L. James. I don't understand when I can't navigate a person when there's no synergy.

The Rock and Vin Diesel

These two look so much alike that you'd think they'd get along, right? Wrong! The Rock and Vin Diesel get along like oil and vinegar. There's only room for one strong, bald man in the Fast & Furious franchise.

Their egos clashed really hard while on the set of every single Fast and Furious film. They'll continue working together as long as the producers keep making those movies, but they're not going to like it!

Katherine Heigl and Shonda Rhimes

We all know that nobody likes Katherine Heigl. She's difficult to work with, rude, and selfish. Shonda Rhimes, writer and creator of Grey's Anatomy, probably regretted ever letting Heigl on the cast. Heigl publicly said that she was never given good material to work with and insinuated that Rhimes' writing was poor. Needless to say, there was no contract renewal and she was gone within a year and a half.

Rhimes, who is notably nice, did speak about this situation in an interview about her new show, Scandal. "I have a no a**holes policy on the set. There are no Heigls in this situation... I don't put up with bulls*** or nasty people. I don't have time for it." Shonda Rhimes rules all.

Shelley Duval and Stanley Kubrick

Most people know that Shelley Duval was never the same after filming The Shining. Director Stanley Kubrick subjected her to psychological torture to get her "into the zone" for filming. He would make her cry for hours, keep her isolated from cast and crew, and even after her re-record emotional scenes so that she would become exhausted.

She recorded the baseball bat scene 127 times. Naturally, the two did not keep in touch after filming was completed.

Bette Davis and Joan Crawford

The Golden Age is the most iconic age of Hollywood. During that time, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford created the most infamous feud of all time. Their feud started with a love triangle. Davis was with actor Franchot Tone while they filmed Dangerous together. Crawford decided to invite him over for dinner one night when she greeted him nude at the door. Obviously, their relationship took off from there.

Davis called Crawford a "shallow mannequin" and, in response, Crawford said that Davis "looks like she's never had a happy day, or night, in her life." They were two of the most famous actors back in the day, so they ended up working together a handful of times despite their intense rivalry.

Debra Winger

Debra Winger was a huge star in the '80s and '90s. She seemed like a sweetheart to the public, but most of her costars would totally disagree. Apparently, Shirley MacLaine just about quit Terms of Endearment because of Winger. The producers had to drag her back from the airport!

Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere

Fun fact: Richard Gere was supposed to play Chico Tyrell in The Lords of Flatbush. He was let go from filming because he and cast member Sylvester Stallone didn't get along. They constantly bickered with one another, and at one point it became physical. Gere sprayed mustard all over Stallone, who then went to elbow Gere in the head. The two were removed from one another and Gere eventually let Gere go altogether.

William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy

Yep, the two iconic Star Trek actors have beef with one another! Truth be told, William Shatner wasn't the most popular guy on set, but he and Nimoy really had it out. According to most people you ask, Shatner was jealous of how fans adored Nimoy.

Will Smith and Janet Hubert

Will Smith and Janet Hubert were on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air together. Hubert's issue with Smith started early on in their career together as she felt that Smith failed to help negotiate their salaries. Not only did she not appreciate his failure to help negotiate, but she didn't like his reaction to the accusation which was just a simple shrug.

Freddie Prinze Jr. and Kiefer Sutherland

It's rare to get an actor to actively tell interviewers why they have certain issues with their co-stars, but Freddie Prince Jr. did not hold back. He didn't last long on the popular drama 24 and wasn't shy about sharing why he left. "I did 24 and it was terrible. I hated every moment of it. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That's not me talking trash. I'd say it to his face. I think everyone that's worked with him has said that."

Bette Davis and Joan Crawford Reimagined

Bette Davis and Joan Crawford had such an insane feud that their story was retold by Ryan Murphy himself. Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon play Crawford and Davis as they go through their time together while filming What Ever Happened to Baby Jane. These two are quite fitting to retell the tale!

Teri Hatcher

Teri Hatcher is one of the few people on this list who actually have a slide to themselves. She was such a problem on the set of Desperate Housewives that no one had anything good to say about her. Eva Longoria noted that she was a bit of a "loner" and it came off as Hatcher having a superiority complex. Nicollette Sheridan straight out said that Hatcher was "the meanest woman in the world."

Bryan Singer vs. Rami Malek

Rami Malek reimagined Freddie Mercury in the hit movie Bohemian Rhapsody. It's not uncommon to see major actors and directors butting heads, but the relationship between Bryan Singer and Malek was intense. They often disagreed on things and got into aggressive arguments. Singer was often absent from film days which led to a lot of delays. Fox let him go.

Kim Cattrall and Sara Jessica Parker

Looks can be deceiving! Their characters were best friends on Sex and the City, but the actors were pretty much enemies in reality. Neither Cattrall nor Parker really spoke on their relationship. Both of them dodged those questions and said that the show can be stressful and it was hard working long days.

LL Cool J and Jamie Foxx

The relationship between these two is... difficult to describe. Apparently, while filming Any Given Sunday (a football movie) the two actors really got into it. The Miami-Dade Police had to be brought in after LL Cool J pushed and punched Jamie Foxx while Foxx was wearing his football gear. Apparently, it was all for show and to get their "heads" into the scene...

Shannen Doherty

Shannen Doherty complained about the excess of drama on the set of Charmed, but somehow, the drama seemed to pop up again when she was cast in Beverly Hills 90210.  She reportedly feuded with at least two of her co-stars: Jenni Garth and Tori Spelling. Garth described the feud between her and Doherty saying that they wanted nothing more than “to claw each other’s eyes out.”

C3P0 vs. R2D2

Okay, the feud wasn't between the robots but the actors themselves! It all started when Anthony Daniels said "hi" to Kenny Baker and was subsequently snubbed. Daniels was not happy about it. In fact, he said that he entered a "blazing rage." Whoops!

Tyrese Gibson and James Franco

Annapolis was not a good movie and we all know it. Apparently, tensions were high on set and James Franco was falling short. In fact, Franco made such a bad impression on Gibson that he swore to never work with Franco again. No one really knows what went down, but Franco was quoted saying that he never "tries to be mean to people." So, take that as you will.

Kate Beckinsale and Michael Bay

Michael Bay isn't a friend to most actors. In fact, many actors and crew members have come out to report his narcissistic ways. Kate Beckinsale was a huge whistleblower in calling him out. She once revealed that Bay told her she "wasn't too beautiful" and that's why he gave her the part in Pearl Harbor. The list goes on with this guy.

Lucy Liu and Bill Murray

Bill Murray isn't someone who is easy to get along with. In fact, he's quite hard to keep up with! He ended up starting this feud with Lucy Liu during a scene they were shooting for Charlie's Angels. He was quoted saying, "I get why you're here, and you've got talent... but, what in the hell are you doing here? You can't act!" Ouch!

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan

These two were all over TV screens in the '90s. They starred in Buffy The Vampire Slayer together and were known to have gotten along pretty well. Things took a turn for the worst when Gellar told the public that she was leaving the show... before she told anyone else. That, apparently, was the last straw and their relationship was totally tarnished.

George Clooney and David O. Russell

George Clooney and David O. Russell worked together on the 1999 film Three Kings. Clooney took the main role while Russell directed. The two bashed heads constantly. Apparently, Clooney accused Russell of mistreating the production crew. This accusation turned into a physical fight that had to be broken up.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes

Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio made history with their roles in Romeo + Juliet. Both actors were very young while filming, so naturally, they butted heads. One time, he tried to play a prank on Danes, who did not find it funny. He felt that she was too uptight and thus began their uneasy relationship. Things changed for the better when they grew up, though!

Teri Hatcher and Marcia Cross

These two played seamless best friends on Desperate Housewives, but they truly hated one another in real life. Their biggest fight was actually on set during a Vanity Fair shoot. Hatcher was supposedly trying to steal the spotlight, micro-manage the photographer, and make the shoot about herself. Cross ended up blowing up and threatening to walk off set if Hatcher didn't quit it.

Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey

Not only did Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey star in 30 Rock together, but they were also executive producers. Unfortunately, that meant that there was a power struggle and they butted heads a lot. They bickered, argued, and threw insults at one another like it was nothing. Sources say that Baldwin wanted way more power than he was ever supposed to have.

Betty White and Bea Arthur

A lot of Golden Girls fans have no idea that Betty White and Bea Arthur had a tumultuous relationship. Luckily, the show itself never suffered as a result of their ill feelings towards one another. They kept it pretty civil (for the most part).

Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge

Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge constantly made headlines as two best friends in MTV's reality show The Hills. No one is really sure what happened to their friendship... Not even Patridge. She once told CelebBuzz, "I don't really talk to Lauren or see her at all. I think there was a bit of a falling out."

Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf

Critics and fans alike applauded Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf's roles in Lawless. Funny enough, neither of the men was impressed with the other. Director John Hillcoat had said that he was frustrated with the drama on set most of the time. "There was definitely a fight between them. It escalated to the point where they both had to be restrained."

Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon

These two A-list actors starred in the film Stepmom together. Rumors began to swirl, saying that they were getting "catty" with one another on set. Apparently, Sarandon went on to say that it was just a rumor that her own PR representative started!

George Clooney and Julia Roberts

People began to speculate that Clooney and Roberts had a falling out due to Roberts getting dropped from the Oceans 13 line-up. Rumors began to swirl claiming that Roberts was hesitant to sign onto the contract because of Clooney. According to the director, Steven Soderbergh, Roberts's character was dropped from the storyline because they wanted to take the plot in a different direction. No bad blood there!

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson

While fans thought that Scully and Mulder had insane on-screen chemistry, Duchovny and Anderson had the complete opposite. They had a great friendship at the beginning of filming The X-Files, but their relationship was strained near the end. Both have said that the stress from filming made them "monsters."

Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones

These two movie giants starred together in 1995 Batman Forever. Jim Carrey can be a difficult person to work with... especially with his method acting. It gets extra tricky when he'd method acting as The Riddler. Carrey said that before filming a certain scene, Jones got up, hugged him, and said, "I hate you. I really don't like you." Mixed feelings, much?

Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre

Charlie Sheen is a notoriously difficult person to get along with. It's no secret that he had a falling out with just about everyone that had something to do with Two and a Half Men. One night, the two had a major fight which led Sheen to be written off the show. Sheen said Lorre was "a stupid, stupid little man and a p**** punk that I never want to be like." Of Sheen, Lorre said, "He's the most miserable f****** d***bag, the most talentless f***ing sack of s*** of f***ing stupid this side of La Brea."

Charlie Sheen and Selma Blair

These two starred in Anger Management together and never really got along. Blair says that Sheen's work ethic was poor and hindered her own. Sheen said that Blair had constant complaints about his unprofessionalism, which he found to be unprofessional. Sheen ended up having her written off the show.

Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic

The Castle co-stars supposedly never got along, but never made it known. A source claimed they went through seasons of not saying words to each other outside of filming. When Katic announced that she was leaving the show, fans had no idea that the decision was made in bad blood.

Naya Rivera and Lea Michele

Everyone knows that Naya Rivera and Lea Michele did not get along. At one point, Michele requested that Rivera get written off the show. Eventually, the request was granted, and Rivera was written off two episodes before the season finale. The rivalry was real.

Chelsea Handler and Heather McDonald

Comedian Chelsea Handler had a show called Chelsea Lately. Heather McDonald often co-hosted with her. Everyone thought that they were great friends, but that was never the case. Apparently, McDonald never felt any job security and "lived in fear" of losing her career. Handler, not enthused by that, said that she was always free to leave the job and find something else.

Day26 and Qwanell

Day26 is a boy band created by the show Making the Band. The show wanted to celebrate the talents of up-and-coming artists to create an R&B boy band. Apparently, member Qwanell was a huge trouble maker and constantly picked fights with his band members and managers. This ended up creating tension on an otherwise popular group which led them to their downfall.

Tom Cruise and Rob Lowe

The Outsiders is one of the most iconic films to come out of the 1980s. Tom Cruise and Rob Lowe were new in their careers. The would-be superstars ended up getting along poorly enough where Lowe punched Cruise in the face. They continued filming but weren't happy about it.

Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine

Even though Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine play a loving mother-daughter duo in Terms of Endearment, the two actors did not see eye-to-eye. MacLaine was not a fan of Winger's antics as a young actor and thought that she was extremely unprofessional. Things took a turn for the worst when both actors were nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars. MacLaine won and rubbed it in Winger's face.

Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer

How could there be any tension on the set of Magic Mike? Channing Tatum felt that Alex Pettyfer had a bad attitude while filming and didn't like his energy. Pettyfer actually agreed that his behavior on set wasn't okay and doesn't blame Tatum for disliking him. Wow!

Julianna Margulies vs. Archie Panjabi

These two played best friends on the show The Good Wife. The relationship of the characters was broken when one slept with the other's husband. In reality, Margulies and Panjabi began avoiding each other off the set and stopped talking. They never admitted to avoiding each other, but some rumors were spreading that they got too invested in the roles. The emotions got too real!

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey captivated 1980s film fans. Their love story defined the decade, after all. In Swayze's autobiography, he wrote that Grey was difficult to work with, couldn't keep her composure, and would often mess up her lines and scenes. Ouch.

Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman

Meryl Streep is a notable method actor who takes her work very seriously. According to the director of Kramer vs Kramer, Dustin Hoffman was extremely critical of her acting and would often snap at her. He even made harsh comments about her past partner who passed away just to cut at her deep. She always kept her composure, but it's obvious that she's not a fan of Hoffman.

T.R. Knight and Isaiah Washington

Things got really heated behind the scenes in the early days of ER. T.R. Knight got into an argument with Patrick Dempsey. The fight was leaked to the tabloids, and in the midst of the chaos, Knight came out as gay. For some reason, Isaiah Washington decided to repeat a homophobic joke about Knight while backstage at the Golden Globe Awards. The friendship between the two was totally severed, and Washington's character was promptly written off the show.
