Baker Creates Quarantine Essentials Out of Cake

Quarantine has hit a lot of businesses hard, but shops are doing the best they can to stay afloat during these trying times. Elizabeth Armijo runs Lizzy's Sweets and Treats in Phoenix, Arizona. In order to spread a little cheer and help the business, she's created a collection of cakes that resemble what people might be needing during the time of coronavirus, such as Lysol wipes and toilet paper rolls.

Her first order came from actress Vanessa Morgan who wanted a COVID-19 cake with a little humor thrown in for laughs. Lizzy knew of a few bakeries doing toilet paper rolls, so she suggested a Lysol cake. Vanessa loved the idea so much that she shared the cake on her Instagram feed. From there, the orders rolled in. "Since I posted that cake," said Lizzy, "I've had people from West Hollywood all the way to New Jersey and Atlanta, Georgia, asking me to ship them cakes."

Customers can get a toilet paper cake for $55 or a Lysol cake for $85. Though her cakes are typically a minimum of $100, Armijo has made some adjustments to this since the start of the virus. "In my industry, a lot of [bakeries]  are really hurting right now with all the cancellations for weddings," she said, "so I do ask that [customers] support local small businesses and order from them."
